ALTEN Technology supported a global manufacturer that produces aluminum packaging for consumer goods by redesigning a subsystem within an industrial decorator that is used to apply designs to aluminum packaging.
We replaced a manual calibration system with a computer-controlled system that is capable of extremely fine registration adjustments. This new system eliminates an estimated five to 10 percent of machine downtime and reduces waste generated by manual adjustments, potentially saving the client millions of dollars per year. It also helps reduce the cost of making smaller batches of product, giving the client the ability to expand into new markets and provide custom imprints to smaller customers.
