Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Design the entire PCB assembly process, encompassing both In-Circuit Testing (ICT) and functional testing.
Ensure strict compliance with Design for Manufacturing and Design for Test principles during the implementation of product designs. Get involved early in the development process to guarantee these guidelines are followed.
Estimate the required resources and expenses for the development of PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) and test equipment.
Formulate plans for the qualification of PCBA processes and equipment.
Take a hands-on approach by overseeing the manufacturing verification and pilot runs of developmental products at our contract manufacturers. Collaborate with equipment manufacturers to conceptualize and construct testers.
Provide necessary assistance to Development Engineering in constructing prototypes and models of electronic products.
Foster a close and collaborative relationship with both Product Development Groups and Test Engineering Groups. This collaboration will ensure consistent testing methods and comprehensive test coverage.
Offer support to the Development Engineering Group as needed, ensuring that products in the developmental phase meet established targets for reliability, quality, availability, and cost-effectiveness.
Create, update, and maintain all technical documentation in an organized and current manner.
Actively participate in resolving manufacturing and quality issues related to existing products.
Stay well-informed about emerging trends within the industry, particularly those concerning PCBA processes and testing methods.
Education/Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.
5+ years of hands-on experience in PCBA processes and the development of end-of-assembly line testers.
Demonstrate a robust understanding of electronic circuits, covering digital, analog, power, and high voltage domains.
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
Proficiency in using measurement, metrology, and wave capture equipment.
Capability to conceptualize and execute test strategies for electrical and electronic products designed for industrial controls and distribution equipment.
Familiarity with designing processes involving wave soldering, Surface Mount Technology (SMT), and laser soldering (preferred).
Experience working with In-Circuit Testing (ICT), including flying probe techniques.
Exposure to various test equipment architectures such as VXI, PXI, Rack and Stack, among others.
Proven track record in developing systems tailored for manufacturing purposes.
