Accelerate launch timelines with Agile aerospace development?delivering flight hardware, testing, and analysis on time and budget across structural, thermal, and environmental milestones.
This aerospace case study highlights ALTEN Technology’s expertise in developing star tracker electronics and their associated mechanical packaging and enclosure. Leveraging Agile product development methodologies, ALTEN Technology rapidly executed three design iterations, progressing from engineering to qualification and ultimately flight models. Their comprehensive approach included structural, thermal, derating, and failure mode and effects analyses, alongside the development and execution of rigorous qualification test plans for vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, and thermal vacuum testing. Furthermore, custom mechanical, electrical, and optical ground support equipment was built to support the project. Through these efforts, ALTEN Technology achieved on-time completion of all major phase-gate reviews and program deliverables, successfully delivering flight hardware on time and on budget despite an extremely aggressive program schedule designed to meet a critical launch milestone. Key tools employed for this project included Thermal Desktop for thermal analysis and Femap and Nastran for structural analysis, complemented by extensive aerospace environmental testing.
