The success or failure of a product development effort is often determined before any engineering has taken place—all because of the quality of the requirements. In this paper, we describe the ALTEN Technology method for writing effective product requirements as well as how to capture, document, track, and manage them throughout the project life cycle to ensure a common understanding of scope and complexity and, ultimately, positive outcomes.
