Structural Analysis For Reusable Launch Vehicle scaled

Launch stronger, lighter, and faster with structural analysis, weight-reduction strategies, and design-for-manufacturing support for mobile launch platforms and GSE subsystems.

This project involved ALTEN Technology providing specialized mechanical engineering and project management expertise for aerospace ground support equipment (GSE) for reusable launch vehicles. Working as an extension of the client’s engineering team, ALTEN Technology focused on critical structural analysis. The team collected comprehensive inputs including loads, environmental factors, and specific analysis requirements to conduct detailed quasi-static, modal, thermal, and random vibration analyses. This rigorous evaluation ensured the strength and functionality of the GSE, with ALTEN Technology also providing valuable suggestions for design improvements, particularly in areas with negative margin, and proposing weight reduction strategies for the mobile launch platform. Furthermore, ALTEN Technology offered crucial configuration management support for the release of analyzed designs. The project successfully resulted in the production of detailed stress analysis documentation for each launch platform subsystem, which was submitted in the client’s preferred format for system release. ALTEN Technology also delivered completed designs and collaborated closely with manufacturers to incorporate design for manufacturing (DFX) principles, thereby enhancing manufacturing efficiency. Key tools utilized in this effort included Ansys Workbench, Creo, Mathcad, and custom MS Excel templates for post-processing.
