For the CYTOVALE SEPTISCAN SEPSIS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM, a $3.9 million initiative in the Medical & Life Sciences sector, ALTEN Technology successfully engineered a solution for rapid sepsis diagnosis. Their comprehensive approach began with a feasibility prototype and progressed to a fully designed, repeatable product ready for verification and validation, ensuring 61010 compliance and establishing key performance requirements for fast cycle times and reliable data. The design prioritized automation to minimize human error, supported by a multidisciplinary team that fostered seamless communication with the client and subcontractors. This led to significant achievements, including a remarkable 5-minute sample-to-score diagnostic rate and the development of a precision pressure and dynamic temperature control system for expedited results. ALTEN Technology finalized all regulatory manufacturing documentation and completed the design of the disposable cartridge assembly, transferring it for production. The system incorporates advanced technologies such as OpenEmbedded/Yocto Linux, IMx6 application processors, Python, precision optics, temperature and pneumatics systems, a sub-micron 3-axis motion system with vibration isolation, and designs for volume manufacturing of the disposable cartridge.
