Optimizing video stream processing? Designed new components for MPEG demultiplexing, decoding, and playback, saving clients ~$400K annually.

ALTEN Technology successfully delivered a critical project centered on DEMUX image processing (MediaSync) for UAS/Robotics, enhancing capabilities to process and display downlinked images and video from unmanned aerial systems. The project involved a strategic approach to integrate new components into an existing application with minimal disruption, focusing on defining clear interfaces and requirements. New software components were designed to efficiently receive, demultiplex, decode, and playback MPEG transport streams. Furthermore, the solution enabled precise control over playback speed, the extraction and display of UAV telemetry metadata via a graphics overlay, and the recording of streams to disk. This comprehensive in-house development by ALTEN Technology resulted in substantial cost savings for the client, estimated at $400,000 annually. The project extensively utilized Ffmpeg, Direct3D, managed and unmanaged C++, C#, .NET, and WPF controls.
