Designing durable camera masts? Developed and tested units, achieving resilience to missile strikes and preventing toxic fume entry.
For the U.S. Marine Corps, ALTEN Technology delivered a critical engineering solution for the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV), specifically focusing on the development and integration of a robust camera mast and gear train system. This comprehensive project involved designing the system to securely hold 30 pounds of equipment five feet in the air, operable across stowed, sea, and ground vehicle modes, and ensuring its durability through rigorous missile and rocket strike simulations. A key achievement was addressing and preventing toxic fumes from entering the vehicle, alongside successfully simulating a five-mile, 30 MPH climb without overtaxing the final drive system. Leveraging expertise in mechanical, systems, and electrical engineering, alongside effective project management, ALTEN Technology successfully met all time, budget, and weight functionality requirements, culminating in the successful completion of final testing.
